ARCH Cat Desexing Program

Applications have now closed.

ARCH is running a free cat desexing program until 30 June 2024 (subject to available funds). Our goal is to end cat overpopulation by making desexing of cats available to local pet owners who need it most.

Why is desexing your cat important?

  • To reduce the number of unwanted litters.
  • To reduce the risk of various health complications, including numerous cancers.
  • To increase your cats quality of life.

To be eligible for the program, the following criteria must be met:

  • Be a resident within the Coffs Harbour District (proof of address required).
  • Be a pension, concession or health care card holder (proof required).
  • Be able to transport the cat to and from ARCH’s Vet on the day of the procedure, and for the recheck appointment.
  • Your cat must be over 3.5 months of age, and in good general health.

The free desexing program will cover:

  • Desexing of the cat
  • Where applicable the on heat (or early pregnancy) surcharge.
  • If your cat is not microchipped – microchipping (You will need to register your cat with the council).
  • Limit 2 cats per household (until further notice).

Not covered
The desexing program does not cover other surgical options such as pre-anaesthetic blood work, extra pain relief or vaccinations. If you choose any of these services, you must pay for them yourself.

The application process
Submitting a form does not guarantee you a place on the programme. Applications will be assessed on an individual basis by ARCH and are subject to the available funding. If you are applying for more than one cat, a separate form must be completed for each cat.
Once you have applied, you will be contacted by ARCH to advise you of the outcome and the process.
Successful applicants will receive a reference number and will be given the details of the Vet to call and
book (if you are not already a client at the vets you will be required to provide your details and the
cats details).
